I feel too formal when wearing classic pumps, so I’ve really been into the slingback trend. I’ve loved Saint Laurent’s Blade slingbacks (they have different styles, but all of them are characterised by a square pointed toe) for a few months, and decided to go for it. I tried on the silver mirrored version and the blue velvet version at my local boutique, which are both 90mm (~3.5 inches), but I liked the look of a higher heel, so I went with these ones.
My Saint Laurent size is probably 35.5, which is weird because I’m a true US 6 (= IT 36). The SA told me to go a half-size because of the pointed toe, so I went with the 36. I’m not sure what a 35.5 would feel like because this is an online-only style, but the 36 doesn’t constrict my toes at all (I don’t have wide feet).
The only issue is that the elasticated strap is a little too big. The heels stay on my feet, but I ordered insoles for more security.
And yes, at 110mm (~4.3 inches) with no padding, these are certainly not orthopedic shoes. But for what they are, they’re reasonably comfortable and I think they’re sexy.,,,
