Maestra Bag
Purchased on November 2019; reviewed on February 2023.
TLDR: There was a time when Senreve seemed to be everywhere - all the celebs were seen carrying the Maestra and my Instagram feed was inundated with posts and ads. I loved the idea of having a versatile that could go from shoulder bag to backpack, and the style was classic enough that I felt that it could stand the test of time. After three years (with a one year hiatus due to the pandemic), the bag has had enough mileage that now is the perfect time for a review. Plus, I haven’t seen any “real” reviews that were written months after purchase so hopefully this helps some of you with your purchase decision!
FIT: As a shoulder bag, I thought the fit was practical - it could fit my 13” laptop, plus all my daily necessities. And it worked in all weather - I probably shouldn’t carry it in the rain but I did and there weren’t really any issues. The one thing to keep in mind is that when I’m wearing my winter puffer, it’s a VERY tight fit as a backpack, to the point where I never wear it as a backpack if I have my winter coat on. The other thing to keep in mind is that the bag is HEAVY. It’s fine for the daily work commute but I can’t use it if I’m carrying it around all day. It’s a workout in itself!
QUALITY: Hmm, this is a tough one. Bear in mind that it’s been a couple of years since the initial purchase. Right off the bat, I had an issue with the shoulder strap that broke within the first few weeks. I reached out to customer service (which was excellent) and they sent me a replacement without a problem. In the years since, you can see that there’s definitely been some discoloration and there’s definitely signs of wear. The one place that I think wasn’t designed or constructed properly is the closing strap. I notice that it does come undone fairly easily; at times, I’ll be walking along the NYC streets and my bag is half open ? You can see in the pictures below that there are definitely signs of wear on the strap.
STYLE: It’s a lovely, professional style. A nice upgrade from the usual canvas backpacks or work totes. I used to get asked by women in the subway where I got my backpack, so lots of style points. I think it’s a solid bag but if you’re looking for something super comfortable that can be easily carried everywhere, there are probably better options. I would also suggest a darker color so that the daily wear and tear doesn’t show so easily.Senreve,,$975,5'5-5'6 5'5-5'6,Bag,Emerging Designers All Reviews,Bag,Senreve
